Top Teak, Rosewood Items Up At Auction
An auction.
It's a great way to get some pretty decent bargains.
It works for people who do not have time to come into our store and those who live outside Vancouver.
Now you two can be part of the auction crowd.
We have been selling some of our items at auction on E-Bay for more than nine years.
Here are some of the current items that are up for auction.
Omann Jun Danish Mid-century Modern Rosewood Desk Table.
This is a fantastic, rosewood desk in great original condition.
It was built by the Omann Jun Mobelfabrik and designed by Omar Gunni around 1955.
The desk has a nice organic feel to it.
On the front side are two open cubbies and a central drop down door cabinet.
There are a total of six drawers and all slide very well and are dovetailed. The desk is in excellent condition and shows minimal signs of wear.
Danish Modern Rosewood Bureau Desk.
This is a stunning piece.
A mid-century Danish rosewood cabinet with drop down desk and six drawers.
Dating around the mid 60s this bookcase was designed by a top designer out of Denmark and has such captivating wood grain.
The interior is beautifully finished and note the unusual solid rosewood drawer pulls inside.
Solid rosewood legs and finishing details add loads of style to this already gorgeous piece. The figural rosewood veneer has such and active graining pattern it is almost hypnotic.
Grete Jalk Danish Modern Teak Easy Chair France & Son.
Superb Danish modern arm chair designed in the late fifties by Grete
Jalk.
Marked with the France & Son emblem, the chair shows beautiful
color and the original upholstery on the cushions.
Chair has a very low, sleek profile and wonderful, flowing lines.
This chair is in excellent condition, very solid and extremely comfortable to sit in.

Sandwiches That Are Out Of This World
In Denmark a sandwich is more than a sandwich.
It is often a piece of art.
There are incredible combinations of different toppings for these open-faced sandwiches.
Danes will eat these sandwiches or smorrebrod as they are called as much as four or five times a day.

Danish Kitchen - Eco Friendly, Great Design
Danish design is well known all over the world.
Now some Danish designers have turned their attention to eco-friendly kitchens.
Here is but one example from Danish architect Knud Kapper.
He has drawn from the tradition of handmade, mid century furniture to create this new look.
The pieces are hand built from solid woods that were harvested from sustainably managed forests under stringent regulations.

Understated Elegance And Clean Lines
Poul Kjaerholm.
He designed modern functional furniture.
His trademark was that his pieces were done in understated elegance with clean lines.
Poul studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen where he eventually ended up teaching from 1952 to 1956.
In 1957 until 1976 he became a lecturer and professor in the furniture and interior design department at the Academy of Art.
His works stand out for his extensive use of steel frames rather than the traditional wood.

A Gallery With A Southeast Asian Twist
Mihrab.

It sounds exotic, avant-garde, eclectic and trendy.
And that's exactly what the Mihrab Gallery on Main Street is all about.
It's a place where you can find amazing things at amazing prices.
The focus is on the old and on the new.
The old and the new from India and Southeast Asia.
The Mihrab Gallery is one of those places where you can spend time at.
The website is comprehensive and best of all, they actually list their prices.
The items range from the expensive ($3,900 for a rare white marble devotional niche) to the inexpensive ($39 for a 50-year old teak tikka box).
Even if you don't buy anything you owe it to yourself to just go and take a look.
The gallery is very close to our retail store on Main Street.
