The Danes - Taking The World By Surprise
The Danes.
There are only a little more than 5.5 million of them.
They live in a country that is cold, often desolate and yet they have achieved something that most of us dream about.
What it is will surprise but it also will be instructive on what you can do about it.
Denmark - An Exciting And Amazing Place
Denmark.
A place of rugged beauty.
A place of great furniture designers.
A place of a beloved children's author, Hans Christian Anderson.
But, of course, Denmark is more than that.
It is a place of great philosophers, artists, and literary giants.
A place of great food.

From Classic Forms To Modern Designs
Ole Wanscher.
A top Danish furniture designer.
He left his trademark by using classical forms (often from the Egyptian era) and reinventing them for modern times.
He produced furniture that could easily be mass produced and that was affordable.
This way anyone could have a great piece of Danish furniture without spending a fortune on it.
But he also produced expensive limited edition pieces of furniture.
Wanscher got his inspiration for designing furniture after spending time with his father in Egypt and Europe, who was researching the history of fine art.
His father's work became an inspiration to Wanscher and he ended up writing several books.
Two notable examples were, The History of the Art of Furniture and Five Thousand Years of Furniture.
He created his best work in the late forties and early sixties, modernism's hey-day.
Wanscher worked on the more conservative end of the spectrum, devoting his energy to the poetry of the classic forms rather than to innovating new forms.

Hot New Fashions For All Ages
Tired of wearing the same old?
The same old that everyone else is wearing.
Tucked away in the 3600 block of Main Street is twigg& hottie, a small designer boutique that showcases the work of 50 Canadian designers.
This shop highlights clothes of bamboo, hemp and soy fabrics.
It's a showcase of 250 different kinds of jewelry and another 250 different pieces of clothing.
At least 70 per cent of their inventory is in the "sustainable category."
The store is the brainchild of three women who all met when they were attending a well-known Vancouver fashion college.
Today the twigg&hottie boutique is in one of the hottest shopping districts in Vancouver - Main Street.
Unlike a lot of other niche retailers twigg&hottie does not cater to a certain demographic.
Rather they cater to women with attitude - an attitude that wants something unique and different.
