Copenhagen - Enchanting Modern, Historic
We've been to Copenhagen four times in two years.
And every time we go, we are enchanted.
Enchanted by the beauty, tradition and its wonderful sense of place.
Of course we are there on business - scouring for the best deals in teak and rosewood furniture that we can ship back to Vancouver.
But despite that we always manage to do a bit of sightseeing and taking it all in.
Here is a link to the New York Times and how you can spend 36 hours in Copenhagen.
It's a great adventure. There are lots of links on the site and if you go to some of them you will see why Copenhagen is so special.
Enjoy.
Danish Design It's More Than Just Furniture
Classic contemporary lines.
That's what makes Danish teak and rosewood furniture so great.
It can fit in any apartment or home.
And especially for those living in smaller apartments and condos, Danish furniture fits right in and gives any space a light bright airy feeling.
But Danish furniture is part of a whole world of design perfected by a bevy of talented designers and artisans.
Here is a link to a Danish website that gives you the lowdown on Danish design.
It's a cool cool site with plenty of stuff to look at and explore.
Try it.

Great Furniture Designer & Architect
His furniture designs achieved major international status.
But Finn Juhl like many of his fellow Danish furniture designers also had a grounding as an architect.
He got his start designing furniture for himself.
Eventually he branched out designing it for others, much to the delight of an ever-increasing fan base.
But not only did he design furniture, he also contributed to the whole interior design movement of placing teak and rosewood furniture into the context of modern living.
Juhl died in 1979.
His impact on modern furniture design was deemed so important that today there is a website about his work, his impact and his life.
Aurora Bistro On Main Street
Aurora Bistro on Main Street.
Great tasting food, awesome flavours, served in a simple, yet elegant
setting.
On a recent foray two of us tried their luncheon menu.
We started with an overnight braised pulled pork sandwich ($13) and a three-cheese sandwich ($12).
In each case you have a choice of soup, pomme frites or an organic green salad.
We chose the cauliflower, smooth and silky, aromatic and enhanced with crisp sage and a bit of truffle oil.
The three-cheese sandwich was served on an Italian bread, ciabatta, with the cheeses (blue, aged cheddar and brie) proving to be a hearty and zesty combo. It was accompanied by a tomatillo (a Mexican green fruit) chutney and a Dijon mustard aioli.
The pork sandwich was moist, slightly smoky, accompanied by onion
rings, a great sauce on the side and served on a sage biscuit. Excellent.
For dessert we chose (server recommended) five fresh little spice
donuts ($9) with a bit of warm Maple syrup drizzled over them. Yummy.
The other dessert (also $9) was a Vanilla bean Panna Cotta (a classic Italian dish made with cream, milk and sugar that is cooked) with apricot compote and ginger snaps.
A regular coffee and a double espresso topped off a great lunch.
Total bill came to $51 before tip and taxes.
