Back From Copenhagen - Amazing Choices
Our Jeremy is back in town.
He just returned from a 10-day buying to Copenhagen, his sixth one.
Here is his report.
"This was one of the best trips ever. There was an excellent amount of furniture, the biggest I think I have seen since going to Copenhagen.
"There was lots and lots of choice and variety. Prices were down by about five per cent and all the dealers were keen to do business with me.
"I think one of the main reasons for the choice and the eagerness to do business is the world-wide economic slowdown. It has affected them like everyone else.
"I ended up buying 700 items. They are now being packed in three containers and should be in the store in the next four to six weeks.
"Another interesting thing was that most of the furniture was in great condition - almost showroom ready. So when it gets to Vancouver there isn't a lot of cleaning and polishing we have to do before it goes on our showroom floor.
If you want to see a bit of a sneak preview of what I bought you can do that. Just go to our website and the items that I bought will be posted there.
"Some in fact are up already. We will keep adding to them weekly.
"If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at: 604-876-5234 or you also e-mail us at:
"Also watch for our December newsletter, we have two special announcements in there that I think you will like."
New Danish Design Forces Are Taking Shape

Find out what the latest trends in Danish design are.
Around Town - Your December Guide
Christmas is just around the corner.
There are lots and lots of events to choose from.
But for the most part they are all about the upcoming season.
So no matter where you live you can get into the holiday spirit.
Two Renowned Major Danish Designers
They were an unlikely pair.
Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm.
But what they produced together was anything but unlikely.
One served as an apprentice to a cabinetmaker, the other trained as a blacksmith.
Eventually both of them became architects and although they each created some interesting designs it wasn't until they collaborated as a team that they hit their stride and became renowned.
Wait till you see what they achieved.
A Real Small Gem - Au Petit Cafe - Wonderful Food And It's Cheap And
Excellent Food
It's lunch time at Au Petit Cafe, a tiny Vietnamese restaurant on Main Street. We order four dishes.
Curried beef stew with rice. An excellent dish of oh! so tender beef with a curry that is sweet and mild with a hint of coconut.
There are nice big chunks of carrots throughout the dish, with additional flavour coming from the chopped up cilantro.
Vietnamese shredded pork salad rolls; all four of them are nice and light, providing a medley of flavours.
These little delights contain shredded pork, bean sprouts, cucumber, shredded carrots and rice vermicelli, all enveloped in a rice paper wrapper.
A beautiful sweet, a bit tart and with a kick to it, sauce accompanies the rolls.
Wonton and egg noodle soup contains eight wontons and several pieces of small bok choy. And of course the broth is what makes this dish. Hearty and with a lot of soul to it.
French bread sub with home-made ham, liver pate, vegetables and hot peppers. An excellent combination.
The total bill, before tip, came to $23.88, which astounded us because it was so cheap.
Au Petit Cafe. Cash only. 4851 Main Street in Vancouver. Telephone - 604-873-3328.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and closed on Wednesday.
